Ferdinand S. "Fred" Behringer, 101, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, September 21, 2000 in Warren Hospital.

He retired as a screen printer from Winkler Textile Print Works, Inc. in Passaic, NJ. and had formerly worked for Phillipsburg Textile Print Works in Phillipsburg; Castle Creek Prints in Washington, NJ and Pocono Textile Prints in East Stroudsburg, Pa.

Born March 29, 1899 in Wuerzburg, Germany, he was the son of the late Valentin Isidor and Babetta Konrad Behringer.

He served in the German Army during World War One and came to America in 1926.

He was of the Catholic faith.

His wife, the former Maria K. Huegel died August 7, 1996.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda M. at home and Dina, wife of Heinz Emil Gueckel of Westerburg, Germany and two granddaughters, Barbara and Christine Gueckel of Westerburg, Germany, and a daughter-in-law, Sulana B. of California. A son, Frederick J. died in 1980.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in the Phillipsburg Cemetery, Phillipsburg. There will be no calling hours. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg is in charge of arrangements.
