Paul H. Butler, 81, of Phillipsburg, died Friday, March 7, 2003 in Easton Hospital. He was a shipping clerk for Ingersoll-Rand, Rock Drill Division, in Phillipsburg for more than forty years. Born April 18, 1921 in Belvidere, N.J., he was the son of the late Burton B. and Elizabeth Brunner Butler. He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, where he belonged to the Over Fifties Club and was a past president and secretary of the Holy Name Society and served as a funeral altar server. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Pope John Paul XXIII, 669 Assembly and the Knight of Columbus, Council 474, both in Phillipsburg; an honorary life member of the Mescey-Bishop American Legion Post, Stewartsville; the Bloomsbury Golden Age Group, Belvidere Friendship Club and the Young at Heart Club. He was a Technician, Fifth Grade in the Army and was assigned to Troop C, 23rd Calvary during World War Two. He served in the Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, Rhineland and Northern France. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the World War Two Good Conduct Medal. His wife of forty-eight years, the late Pearl M. (Zammatore) Butler, died in 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth F. Butler of Phillipsburg; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A sister, Marjorie Zukosky died earlier. Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Entombment will be in Holy Apostle's Mausoleum, Greenwich Twp., N.J. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Online condolences may be submitted at www.noto-wynkoop.com.
