Norman Wesley Davis, 73, of the Heckman House, Phillipsburg, died Saturday, October 11, 1997 in his home.

He retired in 1989 as a Security Guard at the US Naval Airbase in Keywest Florida.

Born April 24, 1924 in High Bridge, NJ, he was the son of the late Lester J. and Myrtle Seal Davis.

He was in the Navy from 1945 to 1952, having served on the U.S.S. Leary. He was awarded the American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, European-African Mid-East Campaign Medal, World War Two Victory Medal, Navy Occupational Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was a former member of the High Bridge Reformed Church, High Bridge, NJ.

His wife, the former Betty Jean Cook died in December of 1972.

He is survived by a son, Allen of Phillipsburg; a daughter, Deborah M. Johnson of Breinigsville, PA; a sister, Betty Philhower of Bunnvale, NJ; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Private cremation services will be held at the convenience of the family. Graveside services and interment of the cremains will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clinton, NJ. at a later date. There will be no calling hours.

The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg is handling the funeral arrangements.
