George J. Flory, 84, of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, August 8, 1999 in Warren Hospital. He had worked for Lehigh-Portland Cement Company for thirty years and then worked in the maintance department of Sanko Piece Dye Works in Phillipsburg for ten years. He last worked as a machine operator for Quality Outfitters in Stewartsville for 6 years and retired in 1979. Born April 9, 1915 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Eugene and Nettie Schickley Flory. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Phillipsburg. He was a corporal in the Army during World War II and served with the 3610th Service Command Unit Headquarters and Service Company at Percy Jones Hospital Annex. He received the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Phillipsburg Lodge 52, Free and Accepted Masons in Phillipsburg. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruby E. Umholtz of Easton; a son, Michael E. of Easton; two grandchildren and two nieces. A sister, Emily Hess died earlier. Funeral services will be private. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery, Easton. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ is handling the arrangements. |
