Dominick L. "Mickey" Frinzi

Dominick L. "Mickey" Frinzi, 59, of Lopatcong Twp., formerly of Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, November 19, 1997 in his home.

He was a Patrolman with the Phillipsburg Police Department for thirty years, retiring in January 1, 1997. While an officer, he headed the Officer Phil Crime Prevention program for fifteen years. He was named Police Office of the Year in 1986.

Born February 17, 1938 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of Olga E. Meggiolaro Frinzi of Phillipsburg and the late Charles Frinzi.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church in Phillipsburg.

He was an airman third class with the Air Force.

He was a member and past secretary of the Policeman's Benevolent Association, Local 56, in Phillipsburg.

He was a member of the Phillipsburg High School class of 1956.

He graduated from the New Jersey State Police Academy in Sea Girt, NJ and attended Somerset County College where he majored in Criminal Justice. He also had special training in Crime Prevention, Criminal Investigation and Narcotics.

He served two terms as a member of the Phillipsburg Board of Education and further served on its budget and finance and building and grounds committees. He was a member of the Jersey Hose Fire Co., Phillipsburg, The Order of the Fleas, Easton, and the Phillipsburg Pistol Club. He was also a member of the Phillipsburg Elks Lodge Number 359, Phillipsburg.

He was a member of the Phillipsburg Lodge Number 52, F.& A.M.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Colin C. of Phillipsburg; three daughters, Catherine C. of Laureldale, PA, Cheryl Frinzi-Domzalski of Alpharetta, GA and Christa C. Davis of Galesburg, Ill.; two sisters, Barbara J. Mussell of Ewing Twp., NJ and Charlotte R. Frinzi of Lehighton; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 8:30 a.m. Monday from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery, Greenwich Twp. Calling hours will be held 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
