Dominic M. Frinzi
"Mickey"

Dominic M. "Mickey" Frinzi, 68, of Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, February 21, 1996 in the Care Center of Lopatcong.

Born September 30, 1927 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Michael and Jennie Merlo Frinzi, Sr.

He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1946 where he participated in many sports as a student. He then attended Perkiomen Prep School in Pennsburg, PA and graduated from Villanova University in 1951. He was inducted into the Villanova University Varsity Club Hall of Fame on June 6, 1991.

His teaching career began at Phillipsburg Catholic High School from 1951 to 1960, then with Phillipsburg High School, teaching introduction to business, business math and driver education courses from 1960 until retiring in 1991. He also served as athletic director from 1976 until 1991. He also served as head football coach at Phillipsburg High School from 1968 until 1973.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

He was a member of the New Jersey Education Association and the New Jersey Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association. He was also active with the selection of the yearly Most Valuable Player Award at the Perkiomen Prep School.

His memberships included the Old Friends Club of the Phillipsburg-Easton Area; the Order of The Flea's, Easton; the Wilson Boro Republican Club; Citizen's Hose Company, Easton; the YMIA Club, Phillipsburg; the Italian-American Social Club, Phillipsburg; the Liberty Hose Company, Stockertown; and was a social member of the Reliance Hose Company, Phillipsburg.

He and his wife, the former Joan M. Smith observed their 44th wedding anniversary June 4th, 1995. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Jennifer C. DiBiase, Rebecca A. Leh, Nina L. Frinzi, Martha J. Penrose and Rachel M. Dean, and seven grandchildren, all of Phillipsburg; a sister, Grace M. Carlotz of Phillipsburg and one brother, Michael J. "Duke" Frinzi of Pohatcong Twp. A brother Anthony died in 1940.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday in St. Mary's Church, 830 Fifth Ave, Alpha. Burial will be in the St. Philip and St. James Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ.

The family will receive friends and relatives today (Friday) from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. The funeral home will remain open continuously from the hours of 3:00 to 9:00 PM for the convenience of the public.

The family requests memorial contributions to the Dominic M. "Mickey" Frinzi Scholarship Fund, c/o Phillipsburg National Bank, 115 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. Scholarship donations will also be accepted today at the funeral home between the hours of 3:00 and 9:00 PM.
