Edgar W. Groff, 70, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, February 26, 1998 upon arrival at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg.

He was a machinist for Zappa Plastics, Phillipsburg for three years before retiring in 1993. He was also formerly a machinist with Johnson and Son Screw Factory in Belvidere, NJ for many years.

Born June 18, 1927 in Washington, NJ, he was the son of the late Harry and Emma Stamets Groff.

He and his wife, the former Sandra B. De Santis observed their sixth wedding anniversary last October.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Edgar and Raymond, both of Atwater, Florida; two brothers, Thomas of Statesville, N.C. and Charles of Bangor; three sisters, Frances Wagner of Washington, NJ, Jennie Aber of Slatehill, NY and Eva Marie Musick of Oxford, NJ; three step-sons; David Lunger of Phillipsburg, John Lunger of Mt. Bethel and Robert Lunger of Allentown; four step-daughters, Diane Grodski and Patricia Hernandez, both of Marshalls Creek and Sandy Mucklin and Rose Fox, both of Bangor; and ten step-grandchildren. Three brothers, Robert, Earl and John all died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A calling hour will be held 10:00 a.m. until time of services Monday in the funeral home. Private cremation services will be held at the convenience of the family.
