John R. Johnson, Sr., 66, of Phillipsburg, formerly of Hollywood, Florida, died Tuesday, June 30, 1992 in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ.

Born November 13, 1925 in Dover, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles and Martha (Quackenbuh) Johnson, Sr.

He and his wife, the former Blanche Oakes, observed their 48th wedding anniversary April 15th.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons; John R., Jr., Alex J., Ronald and George, all of Phillipsburg and Donald of Madison, Florida; five daughters, Martha Henderson and Margaret Johnson, both of Phillipsburg, Mary Ellen Jandle and Blance Lewis, both of Madison, Fla., and Beatrice Cassler of Cranbury, NJ; two brothers, Robert of Phillipsburg and William of Dover, NJ; thirty grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. A daughter, Frances died in 1967.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be Thursday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in the United Methodist Cemetery, Succasunna, Morris County, NJ.
