Frank Marcantoni

Frank "Mark" Marcantoni, 78, of Lopatcong Twp., formerly of Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000 in Manor Care Health Services in Palmer Twp.

He was a Patrolman with the Phillipsburg Police Department from 1954 until his retirement in 1980.

Born February 21, 1922 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late John and Maria Barbarini Marcantoni.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

He was a member of Policeman's Benevolent Association, Inc., Local 56 of Phillipsburg; Order of the Fleas of Easton and was a former member of the S.I.M. Club in Alpha, NJ.

He was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during World War Two and participated in the Pacific Theatre of operations, including Gilbert, Marshall, Mariana islands, and Kwajalein Atoll.

Frank and his wife, the former Lena Olivi, observed their fifty-third wedding anniversary January 18th.

He graduated Phillipsburg High School in 1940 and attended Churchman's Business School in Easton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived a daughter, Marla, wife of Michael McGrath of West Haven Connecticut; a brother, Jildo of Pohatcong Twp.; a sister, Agnes Forchielli of Bethlehem, Pa.; a granddaughter, Leigh Ann, wife of Robert Hauer and a grandson Robert McGrath, both of West Haven, Connecticut. A son, Robert J. was killed in action on April 10, 1968 in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Philip and St. James Church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Rev. Vincent P. Chen will be the celebrant of the Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ. There will be no calling hours.
