Joseph Maida, 85, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, September 12, 2002 in Warren Hospital. He was a tailor for both the London Shop and Joseph's in Easton before retiring in 1978. Born September 22, 1916 in Petrizzi, Italy, he was the son of the late Joseph and Vittoria Umbrello Maida. He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg. He and his wife, the former Caterina Santoro observed their sixty-second wedding anniversary December 19th. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph of Phillipsburg and Anthony of Easton; a daughter Vicki Derk of Palmer Township, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Josephine Santoro and Genevera Umbrello both died earlier. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. Saturday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:45 a.m. Saturday in the church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Entombment will be in Holy Apostle's Mausoleum, Greenwich Twp., N.J. A calling hour will be held from 8:15 a.m. until time of services Saturday in the funeral home.
