Charles E. Morgan

 

Charles E. "Chick" Morgan, 74, of Palmer Twp., died Tuesday, June 22, 1999 in Personacare at Eastwood in Wilson Borough, Pa.

Chick owned and operated the C.E. Morgan Agency, Nationwide Insurance, on Ann St., Phillipsburg from 1961 until his retirement in 1989. He also previously worked for Ingersoll-Rand in Phillipsburg as a press operator from 1956 to 1969 and had also owned and operated a garage in Pohatcong Twp. from 1951 to 1956.

Born Wednesday, February 25, 1925 in Haledon, NJ, he was the son of the late Rev. John L. and Estella Samuelson Morgan.

He graduated from Churchman's Business College in Easton, Pa.

Chick served his country with the United States Army in the Headquarters Company XVI Corps during World War Two in Central Europe and Rhineland. He attained the rank of Technician Fifth Grade and was awarded the American Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War Two Victory Medal.

He is survived by his wife, the former Fern A. Petty, two sons, Barry of North Carolina and Charles E. Morgan, II, of Palmer Twp; two brothers, John L., Jr., and David W.; three sisters, Gladys DeShon, Carolyn Evans, and Estelle Laubach and four grandchildren.

A son, Mark Cevin Morgan and a daughter, Fernette Cheryl Morgan and a sister, Betty West all died earlier.

Private services and cremation will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services and interment of the cremated remains will take place in the Northampton Memorial Shrine in Palmer Twp. Rev. James Ammerman of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Palmerton, Pa.
