Salvatore A. "Sam" Mugavero

Salvatore A. "Sam" Mugavero, 77, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 in Warren Hospital.

He was a former examiner and investigator for the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles.

Born March 28, 1925 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late John and Sebastina Frinzi Mugavero.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

He was a Private First Class in the Army, serving with the 330th Infantry, 83rd Infantry Division during World War Two in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He received a Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War Two Victory Medal.

He was a life member of the Disabled American Veteran's.

He is survived by a brother, John A. of Phillipsburg and two sisters in law, Catherine and Shirley Mugavero, both of Phillipsburg. Two brothers, Charles P. and Anthony, and two sisters, Angelina Mugavero and Liboria "Lee" D'Angelo all died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 a.m. in the church, 426 S Main St., Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, Greenwich Twp., N.J.
