Donald W. Piatt, 78, of Palmer Twp., died Sunday, November 17, 1996 in the Eastwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wilson Boro.
He was a former code administrator for Palmer Twp. for approximately 10 years, retiring in 1983. He previously worked as office manager for the former Trans-o-Gram of Easton.
Born January 30, 1918 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Floyd and Sara Hazard Piatt.
He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Lutheran Church, Easton. and the Palmer Twp. Fire Co.
He graduated Churchman's Business School, Easton.
In 1980, he received an accommodation from the Joint Veteran's Council of Easton for forty-two years of service in organizing the Memorial Day Float that is launched each year in the Delaware River at the Northampton Street Bridge. His father preceded him in this position.
A member of the local civil defense, he was awarded an accommodation in 1980 for training in an Advanced Radiological Defense Officers Course at the Defense Civil Preparedness Staff College in Battle Creek, Mich.
He and his wife, the former Mildred Wagner observed their twenty-eighth wedding anniversary last December 16.
He is survived by his wife. A sister, Helen Conine died earlier.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Easton Heights Cemetery, Easton. There will be no calling hours.
