Salvatore Pugliese, Jr.

Salvatore "Toot" Pugliese, Jr., 68, of Pohatcong Twp., NJ, died Saturday, November 14, 1998 in ManorCare Health Services in Palmer Twp., Pa.

He and his wife, the former Lorraine Manazer, who together observed their forty-fourth wedding anniversary February 21, owned and operated Toot's Tavern on South Main Street in Phillipsburg for the past 28 years. He was previously a self-employed bricklayer and operated the Pugliese Construction Co.

Born August 18, 1930 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Ann Marie Chiavrelotti Pugliese.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alpha, NJ.

He was a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served with the third infantry division and was awarded the Korean Campaign Ribbon with three bronze service stars.

He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union, Local 26; John Dolak American Legion Post 446, Alpha, NJ; Life member of the Phillipsburg Fire Co. Number 1 and the Order of Fleas in Easton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Salvatore, III of Palmer Twp., Daniel J. of Wilson Boro and Michael J. of Easton; a brother Joseph of Phillipsburg; two sisters, Mary Russo of Jersey City and Rose M. Patti of Lopatcong Twp. and five grandchildren. A brother Anthony and a sister, Ruth Tolotta both died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 8:15 a.m. Wednesday from the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Fifth Ave, Alpha. Entombment will be in Holy Apostle's Mausoleum, Greenwich Twp., NJ. Calling hours will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
