Christopher J. Piazza

Christopher J. Piazza, 84, of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 in Easton Hospital.

For nearly 40 years, Mr. Piazza worked with his father and brothers at the former Joseph Piazza and Sons Dry Cleaners on South Main St., Phillipsburg as a tailor and dry cleaner. He later worked in the Cameron Division Offices of Ingersoll-Rand, Phillipsburg for 19 years until his retirement in 1983.

Born December 20, 1918 in Lopatcong Twp., he was a son of the late Joseph and Josephine Ciappa Piazza.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

Mr. Piazza enjoyed hunting and the art of taxidermy which he learned from his father.

The owner of a 1955 Buick Roadmaster, he was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. The year of the car signifies the year he and his wife of 48 years, the former Natalie R. Stefano were married. They married January 15, 1955. The photo above is from their wedding day.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Josephine Kavcak and her husband Edward of Forks Twp.; two grandsons, Christopher and Brian; a brother James of Phillipsburg and a sister, Sister Francis Joseph, of Williamsville, N.Y. Three brothers Frederick, Charles and Frank and a sister, Concetta Sagliani all died earlier.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in the church, 426 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Entombment will be in the Holy Apostle's Mausoleum, Greenwich Twp., N.J. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
