Joyce E. “Babe” (Abel) Pierson, 88, of Phillipsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2006 in the Lopatcong Center, Lopatcong Township.

Born June 24, 1917 in Bangor, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Nellie E. Williams Abel.

In school, Joyce accelerated two grades ahead of schedule and graduated Wilson High School in 1934 at age 16. She worked for a local attorney and other area businesses until retiring to care for her parents. She was a great loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and pet birds, most especially, “Cokie”. She loved to visit downtown Easton with her long-time friends. She was of the Methodist faith.

Her husband, the late Donald M. Pierson, Sr. Died in 1997.

Joyce will lovingly be remembered by her beloved daughter, Carole Y. Scheuermann of Easton; grandchildren, Brenda Haschak, Richard Scheuermann, Jr., Sandra Scheuermann, Kim Creazzo and her husband Tony, Linda Rose and her husband Pete, Susan Cinelli, Roberta Creazzo, Christian Scheuermann and his wife Lori, Donald Pierson, III, and Melinda Verrinder and her husband Jim; 13 great-grandchildren, a step great-grandson, 7 great-great grandchildren, a niece and 12 nephews. She was predeceased by her only son, Donald M. Pierson, Jr., sisters Jeanne B. Roth and Elizabeth; a brother Claude Williams and a niece, Janice Roth.

Funeral services will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. The family will receive visitors beginning at 6:30 p.m. Burial of her cremated remains will be held Friday 1pm in the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.
