Winfield J. "Winnie" Price, 78, of Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in Warren Hospital. Born July 7, 1927 in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late James and Jennie Vagas Price. He formerly worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Ingersoll-Rand in Phillipsburg, Trans-o-Gram in Easton and was an assistant caretaker of the St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., N.J. He was a Technician Fifth Grade in the Army during World War Two in France and Germany. He was assigned to the 3574th Transportation Corp Truck Company Heavy. He received the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Before entering the Army, Winnie was honored to be named "Mr. Lehigh Valley" for his body building and strength. His wife of fifty-three years, the late Arlene E. (Walters) Price died January 30, 2004. Winnie belonged to many area social organizations, including the Citizen's Hose Co., Order of Fleas, West Easton Fire Co., Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #45, Easton, the Y.M.I.A., The Jersey Hose and Phillipsburg Fire Co. No. 1, Phillipsburg. He is survived by a brother Bernard and his wife Stella of Phillipsburg; a sister Anna Ferreira of Bristol, Rhode Island and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Richard and James "Jeep" died earlier. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.
