James Admiral Reed, 75, of Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, June 2, 1999 in Warren Hospital.

He was a general laborer in the area for many years and had worked for the Easton Express during the 1970's.

Born September 28, 1923 in Lower Mount Bethel Twp., PA, he was the son of the late Foster J. and Caroline Werkheiser Reed.

He was a Radioman Third Class in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 and had received the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with one start and the World War Two Victory Medal.

He and his wife, the former Doris Werkheiser observed their fifty-first wedding anniversary last July 15th.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Larry of Phillipsburg, Carl of Martins Creek, Donald of Bangor and Gary of Washington; two daughters, Donna Mulligan of Phillipsburg and Vivian Shetrompf of Ocala, Fla; four brothers, Foster J. of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Grover J. of Easton, Bud J. of Margate, NJ and John of Youma Villa, Fla. and twenty-three granchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. A daughter, Judy Ann died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in the Three Church Hill Cemetery, Lower Mount Bethel Twp., PA.
