Robert Spieles

Robert Spieles, also known as "The General" and "Whitie", age 68, of the John F. O'Donnell Apartments, Phillipsburg, died Monday, February 17, 1997 shortly after arrival at Warren Hospital.

He was employed by the Phillipsburg Housing Authority, where he was worked in the maintenance department at the O'Donnell Apartments for 28 years. He retired November 30, 1992.

Born June 8, 1928 in Kulpmont, PA, he was the son of the late John and Ethel Stine Spieles.

He was a Private First Class in the Army during the Korean Conflict and served with the 502th Quartermaster Supply Company. He received the Army of Occupation Medal.

He was a member of the John Dolak American Legion Post, Alpha.

He and his wife, the former Joan A. Moore observed their 42nd wedding anniversary last September 4th.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; John R. and Adam, both of Phillipsburg and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A calling hour will be held 9:30 am until time of services, Wednesday, in the funeral home. Private cremation will follow the services.
