Elsie I Sanford, 74, of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, October 3, 1999 in Warren Hospital.

She was a machine operator, having last worked for Rogers Container In Boonton, NJ.

Born September 5, 1925 in Wheeling, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Ellis John and Mary Frances Mitchell Mahan.

She was a member of the O'Donnell Apartment's Social Club, Phillipsburg.

Her husband, the late Christopher Sanford, Sr., died December 26, 1990.

She is survived by four sons, Carl and Dale, both of Phillipsburg, Gary of Dover, NJ and Robert of Chester, NJ; a daughter, Alma Ladlee of Easton; two sisters, Kathryn Halko of Cedar Knolls, NJ and Lonnie Buchanan of New York; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Christopher, Jr. and two sisters, Ethel Brown and Emily Mahan both died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 1999 in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St., Phillipsburg. The Rev. Charles Ensminger, pastor of the Untied Methodist Church in Bloomsbury, NJ will be the officiant for the services. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
