Lillian R. Shay, 78, of Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, November 20, 2002 in the Brakeley Park Center in Lopatcong Township.

Born April 29, 1924 in Wharton, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nora McDonald Lark.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved when they brought her Toby's hot dogs. She loved talking with other patients at the nursing home and had many friends at the O'Donnell Apartments when she lived there. She enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family.

Her husband of thirty-one years, John Shay, Sr. died in 1977.

She is survived by a son, John T. Shay, Jr. and his wife Judy of Port Murray, N.J.; two daughters, Agnes Adam of Phillipsburg and Sara Michael of Bath; five grandchildren. Louis and Pamela Shay, Tammy and Tony Gazzio, Wendi and Mario Hernandez, Sindi Michael and Ross Ivy; seven great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren. Two brothers, Edward Lark and William Fitz and a grandson, John T. Shay, II, all died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, with The Rev. Jack Roan officiating. Burial will be in the Phillipsburg Cemetery.
