I met my husband Butch in the spring of 1971. Among his friends
was Paul Ciemiecki, Jr. who was affectionately known as Evil,
after the daredevil Evil Kneivel. We had many good times together.
My husband and I also got to know Paul's parents, Paul and Nadine during these early years. They were great people and a lot of fun to be with. Nadine, at the time worked for Lerner Shops in downtown Easton and was required to work until 9:00 p.m. on a Friday evening. Now this was when downtown Easton was the place to be on a Friday night.
Butch and I would meet Paul almost every Friday night and we would wait for Nadine to get out of work and then the four of us would go to the Lama club in Center Square. Many times Paul Jr. would be with us and the five of us would eat steamed clams, peeled shrimp and have a few drinks or beers. We would often stay there until closing. These times are some of the best memories I have of my late teens and early twenties.
My husband and I adored Paul and Nadine and when we decided to get married in June of 1974, we had the florist deliver to their home on Hill Street, a corsage for Nadine and a boutonniere for Paul. Of course Paul Jr. was an usher in our wedding. Butch and I felt that, I had my parents and he had his parents, but Nadine and Paul were our parents together and we wished to celebrate this at our wedding by recognizing them in this way. Of course they were thrilled and completely surprised by the florist delivery.
It is with many happy memories of our parents that Butch and I are left with. For now, Paul has followed Nadine and they are together again.
Paul and Nadine, we will see you both again. Save us a spot at the fishing hole.
Love,
Sue and Butch Teel
