John Vargo, 92, of Palmer Twp., formerly of Alpha, NJ, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002 in Eastwood Nursing Center, Wilson Borough, Pa.

He was a furnace fireman for Pfizer, Inc., Easton, Pa.

Born December 26, 1909 in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Andrew and Julia (Makatura) Vargo.

He was a member of the Untied Presbyterian Church of Alpha.

He was a former caretaker of the Alpha Presbyterian Cemetery.

His wife, the late Helen Dekmar died in 1969.

He is survived by a son, John A. of Palmer Township, Pa., five grandchildren, two great grandsons and two step great grandchildren. A daughter Helen M. Wynkoop, three brothers, William, Albert and Andy and a sister, Pearl Rickenbach all died earlier.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ. The Rev. James Newman, Pastor of the United Presbyterian Church of Alpha will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Alpha Presbyterian Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Friday in the funeral home.
