Joan M. Varone, 80, of Phillipsburg, formerly of Lopatcong Township, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 in her home.

Born December 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Grace Galata Viscomi.

Joan was a devoted member of the Catholic faith and St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, where she was a member of the Over-Fifties Club. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Warren 389.

She was a member of the Phillipsburg Chapter of the A.A.R.P.; the former Birthday Club.

Her husband, the late Joseph Varone died July 19, 1994.

Joan is survived by a son, Jeffrey F. and his wife Trina, of Potomac, MD; a daughter Mary-Jo Korp and her husband Michael of Palmer Township; five grandchildren, Jason, Adam and Aaron Adler and Brandon and Ashley Varone.

Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ. Funeral services will be begin 9:30 a.m. in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church, 426 South Main Street, Phillipsburg. Entombment will be in Holy Apostle Mausoleum, Greenwich Township.
