William M. Veal

William M. "Bill" Veal, 79, of Phillipsburg, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg.

He was a blacksmith for thirty-eight years at the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Bethlehem, PA, retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, Bill worked for Seip Realty in Forks Township.

Born February 10, 1928 in Brookfield, Missouri, he was a son of the late William M. and Josephine Coit Veal and a step-son to the late Mary Ellen Veal.

He was Tech 5th Class in the Army from 1946 to 1947 and was a private first class with the Army Reserves from 1947 to 1952.

His wife of fifty-four years, the former Doris Mae Bigley died February 28, 2003.

Bill enjoyed model railroading, stamp and coin collecting, but was most passionate about auto racing. He was a push-truck driver at Nazareth Speedway for more than twenty years and enjoyed following his grandson's, Rick Raisner, career racing sportsman race cars throughout the east coast.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane Raisner and her husband Ronald, Sr., of Easton and Lorraine Veal of Phillipsburg; a son Guy and his wife Dawn of Easton; a brother Gene of California; four grandchildren; Ronald, Jr., William, Rickey and Tracie Raisner, all of Easton; Six great-grandchildren, Ronald Raisner, III, William, Loren, Rebekah, Rickey Raisner and Anthony Lister; close extended family, Jami and Madison Silfies of Florida and Judith Laughlin of Phillipsburg.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg, N.J. Burial will be in Arndt's Cemetery, Forks Township.
