Raymond J. Volkert, Jr.

Raymond J. Volkert, Jr., 89, of Lopatcong Township, died Thursday, October 19, 2006 in the Brakeley Center, Lopatcong Twp.

He was a machinist for L.A. Fish Engineering in Greenwich Twp. for more than thirty years. He previously worked as a mechanic for the former Ridgway & Pfeffer Chevrolet, Firth and Marshall Sts., Phillipsburg.

Born December 3, 1916 in Easton, Pa., he was a son of the late Raymond J. Sr., and Sophia Brotzman Volkert.

He was a sergeant in the Army during World War Two and served with the 408th Replacement Company. He was a past president of the Model Airplane Club at Braden Airpark in Forks Township.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

He is survived by his wife, the former Dolores A. Uch; two sons, Barry W., Sr. of Winter Garden, Fla. and Jack A. of Inverness, Fla.; a daughter, Yvonne M. Evans of Inverness, Fla.; two brothers, Jack and Glen, both of Easton; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
