Alice Reta (Pauls) Schreffler

Alice R. Schreffler 96, of Mountain Lake, Liberty Township, New Jersey, passed away on November 2, 2025 peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Stella (Karb) Pauls.

After graduating from Sunbury High School in Sunbury, PA in 1947, she graduated Geisinger Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Lewistown, PA. Upon graduation, Alice became a registered nurse for thirty years at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ with nineteen of those years spent in pediatrics. She retired in 1997 from New Brunswick Medical Center where she was in hospital administration.

Alice was predeceased by her husband of fifty-five years, Donald C. Schreffler, Sr. who passed away at home on October 22, 2005. She is survived by one daughter Frances Rank and her husband David of Northampton, Pa. and four sons, Gerald of Hamilton, NJ, Donald C. Schreffler Jr. and his wife Maria of Bethlehem, Pa., James E. of Easton, Pa. and Thomas S. and his wife Wanda of Allentown, Pa. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Alice will be greatly missed for her love for life, her endless energy and her kindhearted spirit that made everyone enjoy her company. She always enjoyed music festivals with her family and friends. Although she may be gone, her spirit lives on with the family and the love that she so generously shared.
