Artenno “Adam”, or “Art” Ostili, 88, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Born February 6, 1923 in Roseto, Pa, he was a son of the late Santo and Augusta “Pasqua” Tiburzi Ostili.
He was a staff Sergeant in the Army, with the 3138th Signal Service Company during World War Two.
He was a machinist for Ingersoll-Rand, Cameron Pump Division, Phillipsburg for 45 years before his retirement in 1985. After his retirement, he was a van driver for the Hunterdon Developmental School, Clinton, NJ.
He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, where he was a member of Holy Name Society, the Legion of May, Blue Army and a bingo worker for over forty-five years. He was also a third-degree Knight of Columbus, Warren Council 474, Phillipsburg.
He enjoyed playing the accordion, and formerly played with the Crystals.
His wife of nearly 50 years, the former Anna R. Bubba, died August 17, 2003.
Survivors include a daughter, Valerie A. Lusardi and her husband, Joseph of Lopatcong Township; a granddaughter, Lauren Lusardi and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Enzo Ostili, and Lawrence and Leonard Ostile, and two sisters, Perina Cerino and Ida Cimino all died earlier.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street, Philllipsburg. Services will begin 9:30 a.m., Monday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m. in the church, 426 South Main Street.
