Carolyn Nancy (Smith) Penrose

Carolyn Nancy Penrose, 78, of Phillipsburg, NJ, died February 25, 2022.

Born November 24, 1943 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Goerge L. and Julia (Kovacs) Smith.

Carolyn had many jobs over the years, including several stores in the former Phillipsburg Mall, Dunkin Donuts (both Phillipsburg and Lopatcong), and The Promiseland Country Store in Lopatcong Township to name a few. She was last employed as a greeter at WalMart in Pohatcong Township, which she loved doing for about 15 years.

Carolyn enjoyed being active and enjoyed making ceramics, listening to music (any kind of music), but she was especially fond of Elvis' music.

Survivors include two sons, John and his wife Martha and Christopher and his wife Jil and a daughter, Pamela Cicale and her husband Ken, all of Phillipsburg; grandchildren Lauren DiVittorio and her husband Matthew, Emily, Corinne, Celine, Candace, Cydnee and Christoper Penrose, Erin, Brooke and Kody Cicale; 2 step-grandchildren Kyle and Jordan Mosher and 6 great-grand-children.

Carolyn was predeceased by her former husband, whom she remained very close to, John "Jack" Jamison Penrose, Jr. on August 9, 2019; a daughter Lori Penrose in 1971;  A grandson, Matthew J.D. Penrose 2004 and a sister, Elizabeth H. Cook.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2022 in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ. (www.noto-wynkoop.com) Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwich Cemetery, Greenwich Township, NJ.
