Catherine Volpe Obituary
Catherine "Kay" Volpe, 94, of Phillipsburg, NJ, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018, in Edison, NJ.
Born January 10, 1924, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Maria (Sinopli) Talotta.
She was a former sewing machine operator and member of the ILGWU. She and her husband were avid Stateliner football and wrestling fans.
Kay and her husband, Charles J. Volpe, observed their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary July 27, 2018. Her first husband, Epifano E. Cuvo, died in 1960.
She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, where she was also a member of the church's Over-Fifties Club. She was also a member of the Phillipsburg Chapter of A.A.R.P.
Survivors include her daughter, Marianne and her husband, Charles Decker, Jr. of South Plainfield, NJ; a sister, Rose Ritz of Greenwich Township, NJ; two grandsons, Charles, III and Cody, both of South Plainfield, NJ. Two brothers, Anthony and Ralph Talotta and a sister, Marie Alercia died earlier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, in St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, 426 S. Main St, Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, Greenwich Township, NJ. Visitation for the family will begin at 8:30 a.m. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. www.noto-wynkoop.com.
