Dennis Rousset Obituary

Dennis “Denny” A. Rousset, commonly known as “Spanky” of Phillipsburg, N.J. died May 25, 2021.  He was 75.

Born July 9, 1945, in Phillipsburg, N.J., he was a son of the late Dennis E. and Helen (Moore) Rousset, and brother to the late William (Bill) Rousset and sister to the late Nancy Rousset Gebhardt.

Denny retired from a long career at Ingersoll-Rand in Phillipsburg, predominantly as a crane operator.  Additionally, he was a dedicated volunteer and life-member of the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad with over 55 years of service to the town of Phillipsburg and surrounding communities. He held several command positions within the squad over the many years up to and including Captain.  Denny loved helping people in need, especially when it involved the squad.  He was a great leader and mentor to many first responders.  Before medical disabilities precluded him from doing so, one of his joys was honoring deceased members of the squad by affixing PES emblems and flags to their graves to honor their service.

Denny was extremely proud of his two sons often referred to by many as “the boys”.  He was an avid sports fan, with the New York Yankees being his absolute favorite team to watch and/or criticize.  He thoroughly enjoyed playing softball and quoits with friends and colleagues.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marian Fohr; a sister Sally Vansyckle (Joseph Attinello) of Belvidere; two sons, Kevin (Monica) and Kyle (Kathleen) both of Pa.; grandchildren Dominic, Jameson, Carson, Kayla, and Justin; brother-in-law Albert Frey (Michealle) as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be welcomed on Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street Phillipsburg. (www.noto-wynkoop.com) Interment will be private at Calvary Cemetery in Harmony Township, N.J.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in Denny's name to the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 215, Phillipsburg, N.J. 08865.
