Derrick Noel Henderson

Derrick Noel Henderson, 60, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Born in Harlem, New York to LaVerne (Cherry) Harvey and Noel Henderson, Derrick was known to his family as Dootsie — sharp-dressed, music-loving, and a comedian with a heart of gold.

He spent his career in construction and private sanitation throughout New York City, taking immense pride in hard work and providing for his family. A devoted fiance to Shereena (Perkins) for over twenty years, a dedicated father to five children, and a man who could light up any room he walked into — Derrick was the life of the party, a gifted DJ, a legendary grillmaster, and above all, a man who always showed up for the people he loved.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his fiance, Shereena; children Renee, Kasean, Tyema (MyMy), Tatiana (Tati), and Cannon; grandchildren Steven, Tai, and Aaron; siblings Kim Henderson, Bree Frank (Jonathon), and Lamel Henderson; nieces and nephews Je’Nelle, Deja, Dejon, Donovan, Sydney, and Dylan; great-niece Mina; and a host of cousins and friends who were truly family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Noel Henderson; his mother, LaVerne (Cherry) Pamela Harvey; his grandparents, Jordan and Louise Henderson and Sedgewick and Dolores Harvey.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am, Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ. (www.noto-wynkoop.com). Funeral services will begin at Noon.
