Dominic Comito Obituary

Dominic A. Comito, 91, of Phillipsburg, died October 9, 2020.

Born October 28, 1928 in Harrison, N.J., he was a son of the late Antonio and Sadie (Sgrenci) Comito.

Dominic was a 1945 graduate of Phillipsburg High School.

He was an Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War from 1950-1954.

He was a member of St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, where he served as an usher for many years. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Warren Council #474, Phillipsburg; a member of the Warren County Serra Club; the Brown and Lynch American Legion Post and he served on the Phillipsburg Planning Board for more than 40 years, where he also served as Chairman for many years.

Dominic was a co-owner of A. Comito and Sons General Contracting, Phillipsburg, where he worked with his father and brother.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia C. (Hudick) Comito; a son, Dominic A. Comito, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Forks Township, Pa.; two daughters, Christine Doerner and her husband Todd of Palmer Township, Pa. and Nancy Hefele and her husband Peter of Mt. Arlington, N.J.; five grandchildren, Jelissa Weston and her husband Bryan, Sadie Comito and her fiance, Aaron Byles, Steven and Hanna Doerner and Peter Hefele II, and a great-grandson, Beau Thomas Weston; a brother Anthony Dominic Comito and his wife Shirley of Palmer Township, and 
a nephew Gregory Comito; two nieces, Tonilynn Melhem and Terri Comito.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. Philip and St. James R.C. Church, 426 S. Main St, Phillipsburg, N.J. Entombment will be in Holy Apostles Mausoleum, Greenwich Township, N.J. Due to the current pandemic, there will be no public visitation.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations to the St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, 430 S. Main St, Phillipsburg, N.J. 08865.
