Douglas E. McKay, 55, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 in Bernards Township, NJ.
Born January 21, 1958 in Morristown, NJ, he was a son of Verna Atkinson McKay of Bernardsville, NJ and the late Robert E. McKay.
He graduated from Bernardsville High School in 1976, and earned a B.S. degree in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Maine. After graduating, he worked as a construction foreman for H.W. Alward, inc. in Bernardsville, NJ.
He was a member of the Heavy and General Laborer’s Union, Local 472, Newark, NJ. He was a member of the N.R.A. Doug was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, and especially enjoyed growing Dahlia’s. He was an extremely devoted and loving husband, father, and son. He also loved vacationing with his family in Maine.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of twenty-nine years, the former Rebecca L. Ace; two daughters Jaime and Amanda McKay; his beagle, TJ, all of Phillipsburg; a sister Robin Capparell of Bridgewater, NJ; a brother, Scott of Glen Gardener, NJ, and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, several loving in laws, and many close friends.
Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenwich Cemetery, Greenwich Township, NJ. Online condolences may be submitted by visiting www.noto-wynkoop.com.
