Elizabeth V. "Betty" Purdy, 96, of Pohatcong Township, NJ, passed away September 17, 2021 at St. Luke's Anderson Campus.
Born May 29, 1925 in Easton, PA, Betty was the daughter of the late Stanley B. and Mary E. (Clause) Pursel.
She formerly worked at Ingersoll-Rand, Phillipsburg.
Betty was a life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church (Straw Church), Greenwich Township and was a member of the Huntington Volunteer Fire Department Association.
Her husband, the late John W. "Jack" Purdy died October 28, 1984.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Jackie Finocchio and her husband Joseph of Bethlehem Township, PA and Jill Purdy of Phillipsburg; grandchildren Robert and John Hoadley and Kyle Purdy, Joseph Finocchio and his wife Janelle, Jonna Finocchio and her partner Stephanie, Jacob Finocchio and his wife Natalie; two great-grandsons, Jackson and Leo Finocchio and two brothers, Alvin and Robert Pursel. A daughter Nancy Hoadley and Nancy's husband, Robert "Bink" and a brother Thomas all died earlier.
The family would like to thank her loyal McDonald’s friends and life time friends for sending her many notes and cards throughout the years. Your friendship meant the world to her.
Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ. (www.noto-wynkoop.com) and again from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Tuesday in the church, 1213 US-22, Stewartsville, NJ. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Greenwich Township, NJ.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donation to the Huntington Volunteer Fire Department Association.
