Elwood Harley “Woody” Payran, 68, of Phillipsburg, formerly of Asbury, NJ, died Saturday, November 23, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospital – Warren Campus, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Born January 22, 1945 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Elwood K. and Lillian M. Rissmiller Payran.
He graduated Washington High School, Washington, NJ, in 1963.
He worked at Ingersoll-Rand, and was a roofer and sider working with various local contractors until his retirement.
The thing Woody loved most was spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid Eagles fan, and was a member of various local clubs. He was a well liked, very social guy. He also had a great love for his tomatoes.
Survivors include two daughters, Katrina G. Johnson and her husband Bob of Kunkletown, PA ; Kimberly M. Szostak and her husband Kenny, of Phillipsburg, NJ; two sons, William T. Adams of Kunkletown, PA and Darrien Payran of Palmer Township, PA; a brother, Harley P. Payran and his wife Barbara of Novi, MI; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A grandson, Mark R. Williams, two sisters Shirley Muth and Glenda Berger and a brother Joseph Forder all died earlier.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec 1, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ. Burial will be private. Online condolences may be submitted by visiting www.noto-wynkoop.com.
In lieu of flowers, Woody requested contributions be made to the funeral home to help defray his funeral costs.
