Franklin "Frank" H. Miller, Jr., 70, of Phillipsburg, died peacefully Nov. 21, 2025, with his family at his side.
Born August 6, 1955 in Easton, PA, Frank was the son of Jane (Carlotz) Miller and the late Franklin H. Miller, Sr.
Frank was well known for having had two successful ice cream shops in Phillipsburg for eleven years each. JD Sundaes and The Ice Cream Junction. He also installed carpet for over ten years and finished his working career as a school bus driver prior to the Covid pandemic.
He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Philipsburg and the Heavy and General Construction Laborers Local 472 in Newark, NJ.
Frank, also known as “Tinker” to many of his family and friends, showed what true love is through his devotion to his family. His love for his wife Dawn never wavered and he always wanted the best for his children and grandchildren.
Frank found his niche in serving ice cream and the gathering of friends and patrons over the years at his establishments. Through these two local businesses, he was happy to employ local teens and give them their first opportunity for a job. He often said that "ice cream makes everyone happy!". Cherry and soft vanilla were his favorite flavors.
Frank was a Minnesota Vikings fan and watched Jeopardy and NASCAR. In his younger years he drove and worked on race cars. Frank loved music and going to concerts and could always be spotted in a pair of converse sneakers.
Survivors include his wife of nearly forty-two years, Dawn (Houghton) Miller; two sons, Ian Miller and his wife Rebecca, of Tasmania and Eric Miller of Phillipsburg; three grandsons, Jackson, Elijah, and Digby; a sister, Jenneen Miller of Phillipsburg; aunts and an uncle and cousins and several nieces and nephews. A daughter Leslie Marie Miller and a sister, Laurie Cosner both died earlier.
A visitation will begin 10:00 am, Saturday, December 6, 2025 in the Wesley United Methodist Church, 35 Miller St, Phillipsburg NJ. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 am, A time to share food and memories will follow the services in the church's fellowship hall.
