George Mechler, 80, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, formerly Piscataway, NJ, died Friday, December 6, 2013 in St. Luke's Hospital, Warren Campus, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Born November 20, 1933 in New Brunswick, NJ, he was a son of the late Joseph W., Jr. and Florence O'Neill Mechler.
George was a supervisor for Maher Terminals, Port Elizabeth, NJ, retiring in 1988.He was a member of the American Legion Post 131, Belvidere, NJ. He was an avid Eagles and Mets fan.
His first wife, the former Anne P. Ruggiero died in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ada S. Holdridge; three sons, George M., Jr, and his wife, Joy, of Jackson, NJ, Gary S. and his wife, Sharon, of Spring Hill, Fla and Scott M. and his wife, Margaret, of Piscataway, NJ; a step-daughter, Roberta L. Yanko, of Manville, NJ; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. A brother, Joseph W. Mechler, III died earlier.
Services will be scheduled at a future date. The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ is handling the arrangements.
