Gloria J Merlo

Gloria J. Merlo, 62, of Phillipsburg, NJ, formerly of Irvington, NJ, died suddenly on Sunday, August 30 in her home.

Born and raised in Irvington, NJ, she was the daughter of MaryAnne (Lawrence) Merlo, of Lopatcong NJ, and the late Joseph Merlo. She graduated from Irvington High School and her life-long career was with NJ Transit in Plainfield, NJ.

Her interests included gardening, baking, ceramics and fishing. She especially enjoyed sharing time with her grand-kids, and sneaking treats to their dog, Buttercup.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gulick and her husband Dan, of Stewartsville, NJ; two grandchildren, Douglas and Ashley; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Merlo.

A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, September 6th, at 2:00PM, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1213 US Highway 22, Phillipsburg, NJ. Interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the historical preservation of St. James Lutheran Church (Straw Church).
