Joan A. Sciascia, 83, formerly of Lopatcong Township, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in Lincoln Park, NJ.
Born February 5, 1928 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Carmello and Josephine Gloriosa Merlo.
She was a former floor worker for A&H Sportswear Easton.
She was member of Ss. Philip and James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.
She was a member of St. Philip and St. James High School’s Class of 1945.
Her husband, the late Salvatore Sciascia died in 1972.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Martello and her husband, Alex, of Montville, NJ; a son, David J. and his wife, Kathy of Palmer Township; two brothers, Nicholas and Joseph, and a sister Serphina Lobalbo, all of Phillipsburg; three
grandchildren, Aaron and his wife, Traci; Marisa and Alex; a great-granddaughter, Payton. Two brothers, John and Carmen, and three sisters, Josephine Marotta, Mary Chillot, and Sarah Merlo, all died earlier.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ. Funeral services will begin 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m. in the church, 426 S. Main St, Phillipsburg. Entombment will be in the parish cemetery, Greenwich Township, NJ.
