John A. Izak (Poppop), 94, of Palmer Township, Pa, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away June 26, 2013, peacefully at home with his loving family.
Born December 25, 1918, John was raised by the Reverend and Mrs. Broadnax.
Personals - John was employed by Atlantic States, Phillipsburg, NJ for over 20 years and served as an orderly at former Garden Nursing Home, Phillipsburg. He served his country with distinction in the U.S. Army. He loved sports, playing pool, softball, music, dancing and family gatherings. He was a member of the the band "The Deacons". He loved dancing and did so wherever he found music well into his 90's and relished a nice glass of Sambuca. He enjoyed tinkering around the house and when he wasn't fixing something he was the consumate "supervisor". He was always dressed to the nines, with an extensive collection of matching accessories, and was widely known for his cowboy hats and sunglasses. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, their pictures filled his home.
Survivors - Four daughters; Tara White of Easton, Sherry Brockel of Allentown, Martine Reed of Easton, Dawna Wilson and her husband Mylar of Yankton, SD; a son Barid Thornton of Easton; a son-in-law, Paul Gray of Jackson, MS, as well as countless grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. He is predeceased by his greatest love and wife, Ruby (Thornton) Izak; two daughters, Nadine Gray and Kendra Hower, and a grandson, Jason D. Izak.
