Joseph Garcia Obituary

Joseph H. Garcia, 76, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 27, 2026, while surrounded by his family.

Born May 25, 1950, in Paterson, NJ, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Ingeborg (Zorn) Garcia.

Over the years, Joseph worked a number of different jobs, but his passion was for working as a heavy machinery mechanic and truck driver. Joseph worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Charles Chrin Companies in Easton, PA, for more than fifteen years before pursuing over-the-road truck driving as an owner-operator. He enjoyed being on the open road, driving in all of the lower 48 states during this time. In 2009, Joseph switched gears and began working for H&S Enterprises, located in Lopatcong Township, continuing his passion for over-the-road truck driving. He would later retire from H&S Enterprises in 2021, where he found satisfaction in working with the youth in Lopatcong Township as a school crossing guard, ensuring their safety.

Throughout his 43 years in Lopatcong Township, Joseph became well known for always being willing to lend a hand or engage in conversation. Whether or not he knew you, he always had time to talk and truly enjoyed learning about people he met along the way. He was a sports enthusiast who loved watching and coaching his children and grandchildren as they played a range of sports, always supportive and ready to offer advice for improvement and success. Beyond that, he had an impact on the growth of other youth athletes while volunteering as a football coach in Lopatcong Township. Joseph attended church services at Calvary Baptist Church in Bethlehem Township, PA. Besides his love for Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, his family was always the priority, affectionately known as “Grandpa with the Cowboy Boots”.

Joe is survived by his wife, the former Karen L. Pakosinski; two sons, Jason and his wife Jessica of Lopatcong Township and Brian of Alpha, NJ; a daughter, Laura Eriksen and her husband Jonathan of Pohatcong Township, NJ; grandchildren, Haley Keller and her husband Isaac of Newtown, PA, Holden and Hope Garcia, Dalton, Hadleigh and Landon Eriksen; a brother Lyle and his wife Dawn of Hillsdale, NJ, and a sister Gisele “Gigi” Jones and her husband Ronny of Elizabeth, Colorado.
