Josephine M. Baker, 87, of Phillipsburg, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Warren Hospital due to complications of multiple myeloma.
Born July 28, 1922 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Dominic and Ignazia Noto Cicero.
Josephine and her husband, Guy I. Baker, Sr. celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary October 16th, 2009.
She was a cook at the Philipsburg High School cafeteria for 15 years, retiring in 1982. She previously worked as a pinner for Seampruf Ladies Lingerie in Easton and as a waitress for the former Johnny's Corner in Phillipsburg. Memberships: She was member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg and was a member of their Over Fifties Club. She was also a member of the Phillipsburg Chapter of the A.A.R.P. and was a former member of the Lincoln Hose Ladies Auxiliary in Phillipsburg.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Guy I. Jr. and his wife, Andrea of Tewksbury Township, NJ and John and his wife, Jean of Lake Bluff, Ill; a daughter, Jo Marie Gray and her husband Julius "Bud" of Palmer Township; six grandchildren, Brian, Amy, John Jr. and Jaymes Baker and Jason and Erin Gray. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Charles Cicero and a sister, Maria Cicero.
Services will begin 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon in the church, 426 South Main St. Phillipsburg. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Phillipsburg. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:30 to 11:30 Wednesday in the funeral home.
