Joyce Taylor, 51, of Whitehall, PA, died Friday, July 8, 2011 in St. Luke's Hospice, Lower Saucon Township, PA.
Born Christmas day, 1959 in Linden, NJ, she is the daughter of Elaine (Billick) Newman Firth and her husband, Donald R. Firth, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, and her father, the late Frederick Newman.
Joyce was the first female police officer in Rangely, Colorado in the late 1970's. She later owned and operated Merchants Security Service, in Bentonville, Arkansas, with her now late husband, Lloyd Taylor. She also played the drums for a county western music group with her husband in Arkansas.
In addition to her mother and step-father, Joyce is survived by a brother, Frederick G. Newman, of Bossier, Louisiana; two sisters, Kathi Hoffman and her husband, Edward, of Whitehall, Pa and Denise Thompson and her husband, Glen of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Services were private. Services were arranged by The Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ.
