Mary A. Smith, 99, of Phillipsburg, died Friday, October 28, 2011 in Country Meadows, Bethlehem Township, Pa.
Born September 18, 1912 in Summit Hill, Pa, she was a daughter of the late Martin Sloan and Anna Souchock Sloan Petro
Mary worked for Woods Catering at Lafayette College for more than twenty years.
She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, and belonged to the church’s Over Fifties Club and the Singles Club in Phillipsburg.
Her husband, Vincent Smith, died earlier.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Adams and her husband Charles, of Forks Township, Pa.; a grandson, Eric C. Adams and his wife Jennifer and a great-grandson, Alexander Adams; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mary was the matriarch of the Sloan family, having survived her three sisters, Thelma Carty, Elizabeth Dayoan and Dorothy Sisonack.
Visitation will be held 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home. Services will being at 9:30, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the church, 426 South Main Street. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Alpha, NJ.
