Maureen "Reene" A. Becker, 68, a life-long resident of Phillipsburg, NJ, died July 6, 2025, surrounded by love.
Born May 9, 1957 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Morris and Helen (Heiberger) Abel.
She was a parishioner of St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.
Survivors include her son, Brian Becker of Bethlehem Township, PA; a daughter, Julie Becker, of Phillipsburg; a brother, David Abel, his wife, Brenda, of Lopatcong Township, NJ and a sister, Christina Lofstead and her husband Gerald of Wheeling, WV. Her brother Charles died earlier.
As the unofficial Mayor of Phillipsburg, and the O’Donnell Apartments, Reene knew everyone. She loved her friends and family, and surrounded herself with animal companions throughout her life. Right after graduation from Phillipsburg High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Ellsworth "Ozzie" Becker, and had two wonderful children. While not always living her best life, she underwent tremendous healing in recent years and was the happiest she had ever been. Renee was an avid music lover, tremendously sentimental and thoughtful. She lived to serve others and was always available to help someone in need. In these last years, she was delighted to experience life as a “grandmother." She really felt, and did her best to embody unconditional love. She will be sorely missed by both her friends and her family. A special thank you to her friends Marian, Karen, Donnell, Matt, and Trish who helped see her through until the end.
A gathering to remember and celebrate Reene's life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Friday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ (www.noto-wynkoop.com).
