Michael Kish, Jr. Obituary

Michael Kish, Jr., 91, of Sacred Heart Assisted Living, Center Valley, Pa, formerly of Emmaus, Pa and Frenchtown, NJ, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was also known as Mike and "Tookie" to family and close friends.

Born July 28, 1925 in Wilkes Barre, Pa, Mike was a son of the late Michael and Constance Grencavage Kish.

Mike proudly served in the Navy during WWII, participating in the D Day Invasion in Normandy, France and also served during the Korean War.

He received a bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg State College and a master's degree from Trenton State College.

He was a long-time educator, teaching at the Kingwood School in Kingwood, NJ and was a physical education and woodshop teacher at the Milford Elementary School, Milford NJ. He also worked as a police officer in Frenchtown, NJ for many years.  After his retirement, he was a shuttle driver and parts deliverer for VinArt Auto Dealership in Emmaus.

Mike was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus, Pa where he served as an usher.  He was a member of the VFW Post 7088, Emmaus and was a 69-year member of the American Legion Post, 0113, Frenchtown.

His wife of 59 years, the former Susan Heiser died November 29, 2007.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Gubanich (Andrew); two sons, John "Jack" and David (Maura); nine grandchildren, Rebecca Raskin (Grant), Elizabeth Reed (Kyle), Heather Wulff (Robert), Christopher Kish (Lauren), Jamie, Megan, Brian, Nicole and Maria Kish; seven great-grandchildren, Justin, Kyle, Nicholas and Max Wulff, Van and Harper Kish, and Maxim Raskin. Two brothers, Charles and John and two sisters, Margaret Briele and Ann Buli all died earlier.

Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, in the Schantz Funeral Home, 250 Main St, Emmaus, Pa. Services will begin 10:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m. in the church, 415 S. 6th St, Emmaus. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Emmaus.
