Michael "Pop" Stefano, Jr., died Monday, January 31, 2011, in the same home in Phillipsburg, where he was born, April 30, 1940. His family was gathered together to be with him when he passed.
Michael was a final assembler for Hunterdon Transformer, Alpha, NJ, and formerly worked for Fimble Door, Whitehouse, NJ and Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Company, Phillipsburg.
He was a member of Ss. Philip and James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.
He served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corp.
Michael and his wife, the former Joan Baker, celebrated forty-nine years of marriage May 6th.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael, III, of Easton, Pa and Scott of Phillipsburg; three daughters, Katherine of Phillipsburg, Nancy of Palmer Township and Krista Bowers of Nazareth; two sisters; Mary Stasak and Natalie Piazza, both of Phillipsburg; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His parents, Michael and Nancy (Attinello) Stefano and five brothers, Joseph, Anthony, Paul, Salvatore and John, all died earlier.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 6-8 p.m. in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg. Funeral services will begin 9:00 a.m. in the funeral, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9:30 a.m. in the church, 426 South Main Street, Phillipsburg. Entombment will be in the Holy Apostle Mausoleum, Greenwich Township.
