Neil Taylor Obituary

Neil M. Taylor, 63, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on May 18, 2025.

Born on January 5, 1962, in Southport, England, Neil was the beloved son of Carole E. (Mansell) Taylor and the late Cyril W. Taylor. He moved to the United States at the age of seven, where he would go on to build a life rooted in service, friendship, and deep love for his family.

Neil proudly served with the Phillipsburg Fire Department as a volunteer fireman, where he was known for his dedication and courage. His commitment to his community extended beyond the firehouse, reflecting the values of loyalty and kindness that shaped every aspect of his life. From a young age, Neil demonstrated drive and leadership, proudly achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

Neil was the epitome of a great friend and neighbor, always ready to lend a hand with a generous heart and an infectious smile. He embraced life with enthusiasm and a deep appreciation for its simple joys. An avid fisherman, Neil found serenity by the water, always in search of the next big catch. He also enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie of golf, spending countless hours on the course with those he loved.

Some of Neil’s happiest moments were spent in the company of his lifelong friend Gary Garrison and the Garrison family, making cherished memories at Longwood Lake, Maine, and on unforgettable trips to Alaska. A true wine connoisseur, he delighted in exploring and savoring fine wines exploring the finest of wine regions like Napa Valley and several European countries.

But more than any pastime or achievement, Neil’s greatest pride was his role as a father. He deeply loved his two daughters, Melissa and Morgan, and considered their happiness his highest calling. Although his daughter Morgan L. Taylor passed away on November 12, 2022, Neil’s love for both of his girls was boundless and eternal.

Neil is survived by his daughter, Melissa Randolph and her husband, Keenan R.; his mother, Carole E. Taylor; his sister, Lynne D.; his brothers, Graham W. and his wife Janith, and Colin J. and his wife Stacey; nieces Ashley, Emma, and Alexis; and nephew Jurien.

A celebration of Neil’s life will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, May 29, 2025 in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. For more information or to share memories, please visit: www.noto-wynkoop.com.
