Richard E. "Dick" Amy, 75, of Phillipsburg, died Thursday, January 2, 2014 in Manor Care Health Services, Palmer Township, PA.
Born June 27, 1938 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late George and Daisy Day Amy.
Dick was a lineman for Bell Telephone in Bethlehem, PA for many years.
Dick played football for Phillipsburg High School, and later became a staunch supporter of the school's wrestling team. He was a former coach of the Police Athletic League (PAL) in Phillipsburg. As a young man, he enjoyed weightlifting and body building. He was an avid bowler in the Phillipsburg - Easton area for many years and enjoyed hunting an fishing. He also enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City.
His wife of fifty-years, the former Joyce B. Miller, died December 22, 2007.
Survivors include a son, Richard and his wife Stephanie, of Sweet Valley, PA; a daughter, Sandra Burgio of Wilson Borough, PA; four grandchildren, David and Sean Burgio and Justin and Kelsey Amy, and a great-granddaughter, Mia Marie Burgio.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ. Online condolences may be submitted by visiting www.noto-wynkoop.com.
